Abstract

Graphene and graphene based nanomaterials have gained broad interests in research because of their unique

physiochemical properties. The biomedical applications of graphene and its composite include its use in gene and

small molecular drug delivery. The biocompatibility of the newly synthesized nanomaterials allows its substantial

use in medicine and biology. The current review summarizes the chemical structure and biological application of

graphene in various fields. Although a large amount of researches have been conducted on these novel

nanomaterials, limited comprehensive reviews are published on their biomedical applications and potential

environmental and human health effects. It also discussed the perspectives and challenges associated with the

biomedical applications of Graphene based Nanoparticles.
