Abstract

3D printing, also known as additive manufacturing, has revolutionized the field of personalized medicine, offering unprecedented capabilities in customizing drug dosages and delivery systems. This technology enables the production of tailored medications that meet the unique needs of individual patients, optimizing therapeutic efficacy and minimizing adverse effects. By utilizing precise layer-by-layer construction, 3D printing facilitates the creation of complex drug delivery systems and dosage forms that were previously unattainable through conventional manufacturing methods. This chapter explores the principles and applications of 3D printing in personalized medicine, detailing the customization of drug dosages, innovative drug delivery systems, regulatory considerations, and future perspectives. Through a comprehensive review of current research and case studies, we highlight the transformative potential of 3D printing in enhancing patient-centered care and advancing pharmaceutical sciences.
