Green synthesis of novel chalcone derivatives, characterization and its antibacterial activity

Abstract

In an effort to develop antibactrial agents ecofriendly, a series of chalcones were prepared by Claisen – Schmidt

condensation of acetophenone derivative with aromatic aldehyde derivative in the presence of sodium

hydroxide (Base) at room temperature. All the synthesized compounds were recrystallized by using hot ethanol

and its m.pt, Rfvalues were determined, characterized by means of their IR, ‘H-NMR spectral data. Then the

compounds were tested for antibacterial activities by cup plate method.
