Abstract

Fungal skin infections are common conditions that often require effective topical antifungal therapy. This study aimed to develop a miconazole nitrate nanoemulsion using coconut oil to improve drug solubility, stability, and skin penetration. Nanoemulsions were prepared by high shear homogenization and evaluated for physicochemical properties, stability, and drug release. Among all formulations, F3 showed the best performance with nanosized droplets, high drug content, excellent stability, and 99.65% drug release within 24 hours. The optimized oil-in-water nanoemulsion demonstrated controlled drug release and may serve as a promising topical delivery system for the effective treatment of fungal infections.
